PRODUCT: Leave by Breeze.

COMPANIES: Breeze; Boost.

BEST RATING: A

AVAILABILITY: Leave by Breeze is available to property-casualty licensed agents who have proof of errors & omissions coverage and have partnered with Breeze for their income protection sales.

FOCUS: Leave by Breeze is paid parental leave insurance. It's a group product to be purchased by employers that can use it as a paid parental leave employee benefit or as insurance for their pre-existing paid parental leave benefit.

Just 25% of U.S. employees get access to paid parental leave through their employers, according to the National Partnership for Women & Families. Also, there's no federal paid family leave program in the U.S. and state programs are rare.

“The modern employee likely doesn't have paid parental leave, but they want it, so Leave by Breeze gives employers an opportunity to separate themselves as a place to work," says Colin Nabity, CEO & cofounder at Breeze. “Having a paid parental leave benefit can help recruit and retain the best workforce talent, and it's never been easier for a company to set up with Leave by Breeze."

In addition to paid parental leave insurance, Breeze also offers group short-term disability insurance, individual short-term disability insurance, two types of individual long-term disability insurance and critical illness insurance.

COVERAGE DETAILS: The length of parental leave covered can be between 6 and 16 weeks, and the percentage of salary to be replaced during leave can be 50%-100%. The maximum weekly benefit can be between $1,000 and $2,000 per employee. The policy aggregate can be between $1 million and $3 million.

UNDERWRITING: A quote is generated via a company census that gathers information on each employee, including age, state of residence, annual salary and gender. The policy an employer selects also impacts the cost.

TARGET: Any employer that wants to start offering paid parental leave as a way to separate themselves as a great place to work and to take care of their employees. Leave by Breeze is ideal for companies with a lot of younger employees who plan on starting families.

COVERAGE AVAILABILITY: All 50 U.S. states.
