Rep. Hill Is Big ‘I’ Legislator of the Year

Rep. French Hill (R-Arkansas) is the Gerald Solomon Big “I” Legislator of the Year for 2025.
As the chair of the House Financial Services Committee, Rep. Hill was honored for his leadership on key issues impacting independent insurance agencies.
Rep. Hill has been “a long-time champion for our Arkansas state association and Big ‘I’ National,” said Charles Symington, Big “I” president & CEO, as he presented the award. “His door has always been open to the Big ‘I’ on issues like state regulation of insurance, the NFIP and TRIA. For that, we thank him and honor him with this award.”
A ninth-generation Arkansan, Rep. Hill has represented Arkansas’s Second Congressional District since January 2015. Last Congress, he served as the House Financial Services Committee’s Vice Chairman and as Chairman of the new subcommittee tasked with overseeing all areas related to digital assets and financial technology.
Last Congress, he was also a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the House Foreign Affairs Committee, where he brought important expertise from his experiences in international economics and national security.
“Rep. Hill is a voice for Main Street America and working Americans in Congress,” said Nathan Riedel, Big “I” senior vice president, Federal Government Affairs. “He understands the true value that independent agents play in their communities and for their customers. The Big ‘I’ is proud to call him a friend.”
The Big “I” presents the Legislator of the Year Award annually to a member of Congress who provides outstanding leadership on insurance issues. The award’s name honors the late Rep. Gerald Solomon (R-New York), a former U.S. House of Representatives Rules Committee chairman and Big “I” member who championed independent agent and broker legislative causes during his 20 years in Congress.
