QBE Introduces Media Liability Endorsement

By Will Jones
PRODUCT: Media Liability.
COMPANIES: QBE North America.
BEST RATING: A
AVAILABILITY: Appointed agents and brokers only.
FOCUS: QBE North America recently introduced a media liability endorsement aimed at protecting media organizations from legal actions brought under consumer protection laws. As legal challenges against media companies continue to evolve, this endorsement offers affirmative coverage.
“Our clients are in the business of telling stories, and our role is to provide them with the confidence to create and distribute their content across various mediums,” said Chris Cooper, senior vice president, U.S. head of media and professions, QBE North America. “This endorsement reinforces our commitment to providing creative insurance solutions that support media organizations as they navigate an increasingly complex legal environment.”
COVERAGE DETAILS: The endorsement is available to media companies seeking additional protection against legal actions tied to consumer protection statutes—laws designed to safeguard consumers from false, deceptive or unfair business practices.
The expanded coverage helps media companies mitigate financial risks, such as legal defense costs and potential losses. The endorsement extends coverage to legal actions involving consumer protection statutes, even when claims are not tied to other perils like copyright infringement.
Traditional media liability policies often exclude this type of coverage or require it to be bundled with other named allegations. This endorsement fills that gap, offering standalone protection for these specific legal risks. Limits start at $250,000 and have a max limit of $500,000.
COVERAGE AVAILABILITY: All U.S. states.
TARGET: Media companies that produce news.
