Coalition Releases Enhanced Business Recovery Endorsements

FOCUS: Coalition announced a new suite of endorsements that can be added to its Active Cyber Policies. The endorsements are designed to help protect revenue, speed up settlements and keep businesses alive while the numbers get sorted out.

A few conversations can change Someone’s career.

“Too often, the financial impact of a cyber incident shows up long after the attack is contained, especially for businesses that rely on a handful of critical customers for the majority of their revenue. Businesses need peace of mind that their coverage will actually kick in when they need it most,” said Shawn Ram, chief revenue officer at Coalition. “Our new enhanced business recovery endorsements are built to make funds available faster, offering the cash flow necessary to stay resilient.”

COVERAGE DETAILS: Coalition has previously covered business interruption (BI) through its Direct and Contingent Business Interruption coverage. Now, the new Enhanced Business Recovery Endorsements expand Coalition’s offerings to include:

  • Key customer coverage: Helps policyholders replace lost profits caused by a cyber incident when they must pause or reduce orders due to an outage at a critical customer, helping protect revenue streams.
  • Rapid review: Shortens the time to payout by using a single, neutral forensic accountant. This streamlines business interruption loss measurements, helping all parties reach an agreed-upon amount more quickly.
  • Cashflow lifeline: Provides a discretionary early cash advance for small and midsize businesses to help stabilize operations during the claims adjustment period.
  • Reduced waiting period for managed detection and response (MDR): Rewards insureds that invest in stronger cybersecurity by using a qualifying MDR service. The benefit shortens the business interruption waiting period, enabling coverage to begin sooner after a covered event.

“Business interruption has historically been one of the most painful parts of a cyber claim because it often turns into an adversarial back-and-forth,” said Rob Jones, head of global claims at Coalition. “Traditional BI claims can drag on for months as carriers and policyholders debate assumptions and spreadsheets. These disputes are often quite difficult because the policyholder has already been a victim in the underlying event. With these new endorsements, we’re continuing to pursue objectivity in reconciling losses by aligning everyone to help reduce the emotional toll and get cash to our policyholders faster, so they can focus on maintaining business as usual.”

COVERAGE AVAILABILITY: All non-admitted Coalition policyholders in the U.S. and Canada, excluding Quebec.
