Kendyl Meseck is the new business intake manager at Goldleaf Surety Services, where she helps clients and agency partners navigate the bonding process from first conversations, answering questions and gathering the necessary information for submissions. She is passionate about building trusted relationships, finding creative solutions and making sure each request is handled quickly and accurately.

She holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Science from North Dakota State University and a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Minot State University.

Hi, Kendyl! What is your favorite season and why?

Summer. There’s nothing better than a sunny day on a Minnesota lake. I love riding in the boat, tubing, skiing, fishing and swimming.

Where would you go in a zombie apocalypse?

If it happened during winter, I’d stay right here in Minnesota. I feel fairly confident that even zombies wouldn’t want to come somewhere that feels like negative 50 degrees outside.

A few conversations can change Someone’s career.

Can you tell us a joke?

Telling jokes isn’t my strongest skill, but here’s the one I tell my kids over and over: What’s a cow’s favorite thing to do? Go to the mooooooo-vies.

What’s one thing you can’t say no to?

Going out to eat. I will never say no to a delicious meal at a restaurant.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked.

What is your favorite pizza topping?

Pepperoni.

What is your coffee order?

A shaken espresso with salted caramel cold foam.

Which sports teams do you support and why?

I absolutely love sports, both playing and watching. As I was born and raised in Minnesota, you can always count on me to be watching one of our teams. I’m a huge fan of the Vikings, Timberwolves, Wild and Twins. SKOL!

What’s the best phrase or slang people use in your hometown or family?

Hotdish. You cannot beat a tater tot hotdish on a cold Minnesota night. If you need the recipe, I’m happy to share.

What do you do to unwind after a long day at work?

I have two young children, so there’s not much unwinding during this stage of life.

Do you have any pets?

I have a dog and a cat. My dog’s name is Kobe and my cat’s name is Knucks. Our cat is a polydactyl, which means she has extra toes. That defining feature is how she earned her name, Knuckles, or Knucks for short.

Do you have any tattoos?

Yes, two. I’d love to get a few more someday.

What is the most-used emoji on your phone?

The laughing-crying emoji. It sums up my personality well because I’m always laughing.

What one piece of advice would you give to your great-grandchildren?

Instead of advice, I would share this quote from F. Scott Fitzgerald: “I hope you live a life you’re proud of. If you find that you are not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.”

Who has had the biggest influence on your professional career?

My dad, Jack, president of Goldleaf Surety Services. Growing up, I watched how he built relationships, worked incredibly hard, used creative problem-solving and always emphasized treating people the right way. Those traits played a huge role in his success and in our company’s growth. I’m eternally grateful to have such a positive influence to model my career after.
