Scott McKee is the director of agency recruitment for the Big “I” Alliance Gold program, which helps agency owners and insurance professionals grow through trusted relationships, mentorship and servant leadership.

Scott has been blessed with an incredible family. He and his wife, Chrystal, have been married for nearly 39 years, and her unwavering support has made every opportunity in his career possible. As an alumnus of Appalachian State University and the Richard A. Brantley School of Insurance, he was fortunate to be mentored by Dr. Dave Wood, whose guidance launched his career in the independent agency system.

Hey, Scott! An easy one to get started: What is your coffee order?

Vanilla latte with caramel.

What is your favorite season?

Fall.

When insurance people finally stop talking about storm season and start talking about football. Where would you go during a zombie apocalypse?

Waffle House, of course.

If Waffle House is closed, civilization is finished. When you go to a fast food restaurant, where do you go?

Chick-fil-A.

What’s your favorite ice cream flavor?

Praline Butter Crunch.

What film have you watched the most times and will probably keep watching over and over again?

“Secondhand Lions.”

If you had to do karaoke, what song would you sing?

“Friends in Low Places” by Garth Brooks..

What is your favorite book?

“If You Want to Walk on Water, Get Out of the Boat” by John Ortberg.

What goals are you currently working toward outside of work?

Improving my Spanish.

Bueno! What’s one productivity tool you couldn’t live without?

A watch.

Sure. What is the moment that you realized you were an adult?

When I had a car payment, a house payment and a new baby all at the same time.

Do you have any pets?

Jack, my wife’s dog.

I bet you’re the guy who didn’t want a dog but is also best friends with the dog … What’s one thing you can’t say no to?

My granddaughter.

We all have our weaknesses. What one piece of advice would you give to your great-grandchildren?

Be true to yourself, and love others.

What three items would you take to a desert island?

A boat, a plane and a helicopter.

What is the title of your hypothetical autobiography?

“The Damascus Trial: Finally Achieved.”

What is the most-used emoji on your phone?

I use mostly the boomer ones, or so I am told.

The 👍 emoji does a lot of heavy lifting in boomer parlance. And lastly, what is something you’re looking forward to?

My next grand vacation with my wife.
