As a member of the Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety Board of Directors, the Big “I” participated in a recent board meeting for the organization. Advocates for Highway and Auto Safety is an alliance of consumer, medical, public health, and safety groups along with insurance companies and agents working together to make America’s roads safer. During the meeting, the organization presented Rep. Jim McGovern (D-Massachusetts), chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Rules, with the 30th Anniversary Highway Safety Hero Award for his work to make America’s roads safer. In addition, the Board heard a presentation on drug impaired driving from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and discussed important federal and state legislative and regulatory developments.

The Board of Directors will next meet on Dec. 5.
