Glowing glass

PRODUCT: Cyber Suite.

COMPANIES: PAK Programs; Great American Insurance.

BEST RATING: A+

AVAILABILITY: Available on an open-brokerage basis, Cyber Suite is an additional coverage available to PAK Programs’ business owner package policy clients.

FOCUS: In the fourth quarter of 2024, there was a 118% spike in ransomware attacks on the food and agriculture sector, according to the Food and Agriculture-Information Sharing and Analysis Center (Food and Ag-ISAC).

“Evolving technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) are becoming more sophisticated and accessible to bad actors, increasing the risk of cybercrime for businesses,” says Debbie Tomlinson, senior underwriter PAK Programs. “For alcoholic beverage manufacturers and distributors, a cyber incident can lead to a breach of personal information, extensive business interruption, substantial financial losses and more.”

In response to this growing threat, the PAK Cyber Suite responds to and provides coverage for a full range of cyber threats including ransomware attacks, breaches of personally identifying or personally sensitive information, unauthorized intrusion into computer systems, damage to data and systems from computer attacks and cyber-related litigation.

COVERAGE DETAILS: Cyber Suite provides both first- and third-party coverages. The enhanced Cyber Suite coverage will help by responding to both misdirected payment fraud and cyber extortion for an insured should they occur.

In the event of a cyber breach, Cyber Suite also provides data compromise response expenses and privacy incident liability coverage. These are key coverages as they provide public relations and reputational harm coverage, as well as defense and settlement costs in the event of a third-party suit related to a breach of personal information. Coverage means an insured is protected against a broader range of risks, including financial, legal and reputational risk.

UNDERWRITING: There is a two-page application with most questions only required for insureds requesting limits of $500,000 or $1 million. PAK Programs also requires the following information for rating purposes: number of employees, number of electronic records stored and number of years in business. Limits start at $50,000.

COVERAGE AVAILABILITY: All U.S. states except New York.

TARGET: Clients in the alcoholic beverage manufacturing industry, including wineries, breweries, cideries, importers, distributors, meaderies and liquor stores.
