FOCUS: As exposures and risks for educational institutions continue to evolve, demands on school resources are at an all‑time high—particularly when it comes to keeping students and staff safe.

The Hanover responds with an enhanced education product designed to give educators a total solution for all their insurance needs: The Hanover Education Advantage product suite, which includes coverage for property, auto, employees and enrollees, and more.

“The coverage can be adapted to meet the needs of each individual insured,” explains Diana M. O’Brian, assistant vice president, industry solutions. “The enhancement gives the company’s agent partners more opportunities to tailor insurance protection to the needs of their clients.”

Coverage includes:

School and educators legal liability, with expanded deductibles and deductible types, a separate aggregate limit for employment practices liability, enhanced coverages for professional services and broader language related to Title IX civil rights claims. It also includes protection for special liability risks, such as defense coverage outside the limits of liability.

Directors & officers liability, now a separate coverage with a broadened definition of “insured,” including protection for estates, heirs, committee members, parent‑teacher organizations and more.

Incidental professional liability, broadened for bodily injury claims resulting from incidental professional services rendered. It now includes hired professionals providing professional health care services, student health centers, infirmaries and clinics.

Key employee replacement expense coverage, which provides reimbursement for expenses of replacing key scheduled employees due to sudden and accidental death or permanent disability.

With this enhancement, The Hanover also continues to offer numerous risk management resources for education customers, including specialized training for educators, Title IX e‑learning portals and mandated reporter courses.

According to O’Brian, the company also partners with a variety of vendors to offer cost‑effective training solutions for education customers, including ImPACT, a concussion management tool, and ALICE, an active shooter response training program.

“With these enhancements, our agent partners are able to provide even more value to their customers, setting their businesses apart in their markets,” O’Brian says.
