This episode of Agency Nation Radio provides best practices for finding a mentor, approaching the relationship and learning from seasoned industry professionals.
As part of a special hard market bonus series on Agency Nation Radio, the Big “I" Young Agents Committee has partnered with Trusted Choice® to deliver information on the importance of mentorship in independent agencies.
On this episode, guests Krista Kautz, producer, and Stewart Berrong, owner, both from Berrong Insurance in Edmond, Oklahoma, discuss their mentor-mentee relationship with Cash McMillen, National Young Agents Committee member. The conversation provides best practices for finding a mentor, approaching the relationship and learning from seasoned industry professionals.
An estimated 400,000 employees in the insurance industry are set to retire in the next few years, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, which means now is the time for conversations between younger employees and seasoned staff to begin the transfer of knowledge.
“The older generation, if you will, is taking our knowledge, our experience, and handing it down," Berrong said. “We have the opportunity to learn from the younger generation as they try to figure that out," he added.
