Businesses, individuals and families around the world are responding to an outbreak of a respiratory disease caused by a novel coronavirus that was first detected in China and has now been detected in over 80 locations internationally.
In the United States, at least 21 states have reported cases and there have been 13 deaths due to the virus so far. From Seattle to New York to London, companies of all sizes have spent the last week preparing for disruptions from the coronavirus outbreak. Meanwhile, from health insurance to special events policies, the implications of the deadly virus to the insurance industry are both widespread and unpredictable.
In recent days and weeks, the Big “I” has received multiple inquiries relating to coverages and agency operations. To help members prepare and respond, the association created a resource page, which will be updated as the outbreak develops.
