Declaration of Independents: Justin Watters

Justin Watters
General Lines Producer
Vogue Insurance Agency LLC
Arlington, Texas
2016 has been a milestone year for this young agent who joined Vogue Insurance Agency in January and became a father in August. “I’m more than proud,” says Watters, who turned 28 last month. He’s also “hungry.”
“HUNGRY”?
I won’t tell a client “no.” If I don’t have the experience, I will learn.
TURNING POINT?
The first time I spoke with a client and actually established a relationship, I knew I was making a difference in their personal and business life. I want to be more personable than just making a sale. All my clients have my cell phone number. We talk or text on the weekends. At least five called the week our son was born to congratulate us.
DIGITAL OR IN PERSON?
I’d rather do everything face to face, but some clients would rather communicate by text. I try to interact with clients on social media. As soon as we meet, I find them on LinkedIn, because that’s a great free source to find out more about them and get down to what they want and need.
STRENGTH?
An HVAC client decided our responsiveness and friendliness outweighed the difference in a competitor’s lower cost. When he texts me, I text him back. He likes having somebody who’s more attentive to his needs and is willing to pay the few extra dollars.
BIGGEST MISTAKE?
I wish I had taken advantage of the Independent Insurance Agents of Texas educational program sooner. It has provided me with a wealth of knowledge and better prepared me as an agent.
WHAT DRIVES YOU?
Providing for my wife Jordan. Our first child, Kasen, is my best motivation.
MENTOR?
Our owner, Audra Sullivan, has grown our agency dramatically since 2013. She is always gearing us toward bettering ourselves as agents and helping us to continue our education.
