National Senior Living Insurance Rounds Out Glatfelter Health Care

FOCUS: Glatfelter Healthcare Practice is expanding its insurance coverage for senior living facilities, home health care and other private home care agencies. The company has been insuring skilled nursing and assisted living facilities since 1985, but the addition of AIG means it can now offer agents and brokers the product in all 50 states.

The new senior living insurance program complements the company’s hospice and home health care program and “allows us to offer a complete healthcare program to our agents and brokers,” says Shawn Yingling, president of Glatfelter Healthcare Practice. “We are looking to partner with agents that focus on writing this important class of business by offering high-quality insurance and risk management products through a carrier that is committed to the senior living marketplace.”

Glatfelter’s program includes risk control services by “specialists who have 30 years of experience in clinical health care and 20 years in health care risk management,” Yingling says, adding that the in-house claims department is staffed by experienced professionals, including a licensed nursing home administrator.

UNDERWRITING: Coverages include professional liability; general liability; auto liability and physical damage for owned, non-owned and hired vehicles; excess liability; and property, with coverage for flood and earthquake perils, as well as prior acts coverage. Workers compensation is not included. Umbrella liability and flexible options for high-value property are available. Additional coverages include crime, including a unique coverage for theft from patients’ homes; hospice physician for both administrative and clinical duties on behalf of the organization; defense costs outside the limit; duty to defend; and pay on behalf.
