Rep. Heath Shuler was first elected to represent North Carolina’s 11th congressional district in 2006. The 11th District is comprised of the Tar Heel State’s 15 westernmost counties. Shuler was a successful entrepreneur and small business owner before running for Congress. He is also known for his success on the football field as a student-athlete at the University of Tennessee and in the NFL.
Shuler is an active member and co-chair of the Blue Dog Coalition, a group of congressional Democrats who advocate for fiscal responsibly and government accountability. He serves on the House Budget Committee and the Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure.
The Big "I" National Young Agents Committee (YAC) encourages young agents – those under 40 years of age or with less than 5 years of experience in the industry – to become aware of and get involved in the activities and programs of the association. YAC’s goals include building involvement in and activism for the legislative issues vital to the future of the insurance industry.
InsurPac is the Big “I’s” political action committee (PAC). It is the largest property-casualty insurance industry PAC in the country, and is one of the primary reasons the Big "I" is routinely rated among the most successful lobbying groups in Washington, D.C. In disbursing contributions, InsurPac does not look at party affiliation but supports representatives, senators, and candidates for federal office that have been advocates and supportive of the association’s small business philosophy.
The annual Big “I” Legislative Conference will take place April 13-15 at the Grand Hyatt Washington Hotel in Washington, D.C. Click here for more information and to register.
