The 2010 Agency Universe Study is one of the most comprehensive analyses of the independent agency system to date. Past findings from the study, the most definitive and exhaustive profile of the agency system, have benefited agencies, companies and others for more than 25 years. As with previous versions, the 2010 report provides detailed and current information about the state of the agency system and the insurance marketplace.
The study examines the number of agencies, the makeup of agency staff, their revenue sources and premium base and the nature of their ownership and organization, as well as the diversification of their products and services. The 2010 Agency Universe Study also examines new issues in special detail. Examples of areas examined include the role that niche and specialty markets play in agency operations, and how new agencies (those less than five years old) compare with those in operation for many years. The study also takes a detailed look at the factors that influence the agency business environment and the importance of certain issues to building a strong and prosperous agency.
Agency principals and carrier personnel use the study’s results to benchmark their operations, develop new products and services, refine their relationships with one another, and for countless other purposes.
The 2010 Agency Universe Study results are available in two formats: as a 114-page full report ($1500 delivered electronically or via U.S. mail), and as a 23-page management summary, available electronically ($99.95).
